Men have received very little attention when it comes to preparing for pregnancy, but research is starting to show that men do matter – not only for conception, but for the long term health and wellness of the growing baby, and even beyond birth

6 Preconception Steps For Dads To Be

To understand that there are lifestyle changes that can – and should – be started prior to conception is one thing, but very few couples know that this extends beyond changes to the woman’s lifestyle and actually encompasses the man’s lifestyle too. In January 2012, the American Center for Disease Control and Prevention released a study they did that found that only 43 percent of women and 52 percent of men had any awareness of the importance of preconception health (PCH), and then it was commonly believed that PCH is the sole domain of the woman. While it is true that women’s preconception health is important, the role of the man’s health prior to conception is less widely discussed – even though males contribute to half of all issues with fertility.
