Inside Tom and Belinda Williams’ traditional Sydney house is a surprising celebration of space, clean lines and modern materials

When Tom and Belinda Williams bought their period home in Sydney in 2013, it was sadly dilapidated and devoid of original features. But that meant it was a bargain – and exactly what the couple were looking for. It was also on a lovely tree-lined street in Paddington with views of the Harbour Bridge. ‘Because the house had been so neglected I saw it as an abundance of creative opportunities,’ says Tom. ‘We had licence to create a modern home to suit our growing family.’
