The venerable Zenith Pilot roars into the future
Zenith trademarked the word pilot in 1888, before powered flight was even a thing. Granted, it was the French version of the word, so pilote. But by 1904-the year after the Wright brothers took off in Kitty Hawk-the veteran Swiss watch brand had trademarked it in English, too. Zenith's prescience meant it would be associated with air travel from the get-go. To this day, it's the only company permitted to use the word pilot on its dials.
