Actor Laz Alonso Shares His Go-to Spots When He’s Home Sweet Home in the Chocolate City
NAACP Image Award-winning actor Laz Alonso has graced screens in scores of film and TV productions including Avatar, Stomp the Yard, Breakout Kings, Jumping the Broom and The Mysteries of Laura. Next up, you’ll see him in theaters in Detroit and Traffik.
Off-camera, the Washington, D.C. native and Howard University alum is active in a different arena. He’s an advocate for climate equity and has a stake in Volt Energy, a renewable energy enterprise founded by fellow HU classmates Gilbert Campbell and Antonio Francis. The three were among several invited last year to the White House for the White House Champions of Change for Climate Equity forum, where Alonso was a featured speaker. That trip was a chance for him to get on his “soapbox” to talk about environmental changes and visit some of his favorite places.
