A Word With The Manager

MOMENTUM cannot be understated in football, especially when there are so many games in such a short space of time. The wave of momentum which Celtic have built up recently has overwhelmed opponents and, as the Hoops gear up for a crucial European tie, they will be aiming to maintain that fine form on the big stage.
The Europa League group stages are now at the halfway point and tomorrow night (Thursday) Celtic will face RB Leipzig at Paradise. The Bundesliga side got the better of the Hoops two weeks ago in Germany with a 2-0 win, but a lot can change within the space of a fortnight. There are no indications that the result against Leipzig has had any lingering effect on the team. In fact, it may only have propelled Celtic forward.
Last week Brendan Rodgers’ side stormed to three dominant wins that displayed all the trappings of the side which etched a treble-winning Invincible season into the history books. The 5-0 win against Hearts at Celtic Park on Saturday concluded a week in which the team scored 13 goals and conceded none.
The manager summed up the performance as ‘outstanding’ before quickly adding that his side must look to continue that in the next game.
“It was an outstanding team performance and result,” said the Brendan Rodgers in an exclusive interview with the Celtic View. “Up until this point in the season we’ve had a lot of games but the energy, the effort and the quality that the players put into the game has been very good.
“That goes back to our base of defending and our ability to press the game in numbers. That was very apparent in all three games we played last week. That then allows us to go and create the chances we had.
