Tracing The History Of Seletti
Elle Decor India
|April - May 2018
ELLE DECOR salutes excellence and innovation: Each issue, we bring you the progressive path of a well-known make. Here we profile Seletti, the 53 year old Italian brand that has been a pioneer of creations that are beyond convention and ingeniously blend pop art with everyday objects
In 1964, from the quaint Italian village of Cicognara, Mantova, Romano Seletti started importing home decor products and tableware from China. He was one of the very few who dealt with the trade of typical Chinese goods. Little did he know then that this venture would lead to the inception of a revolutionary home decor brand. The business started with the sale of products to wholesalers and gradually moved to creating individual packaging for them to be sold in supermarkets. Stefano soon joined his father and developed their own designs, while also getting his suppliers to manufacture new products. All this soon snowballed into ingenious, bigger collaborations.
