Chance Encounter
Condé Nast House & Garden
|July 2019
Multimedia artist Matt Slater describes the process behind his mercurial images to Liz Morris.
‘At the core of my work is the Japanese idea of wabi-sabi. Its aesthetics comprise characteristics such as asymmetry, irregularity, roughness, minimalism, modesty, intimacy and seeing value in the integrity of natural entities and processes. Impermanence, the acceptance of transience, and the beauty that comes with the process of ageing are also concepts that appear throughout the work.
