PS Design creates a bespoke home in Mumbai filled with colours, artwork, handpicked accessories... just about every decor desire actor Kushal Tandon asked for to make everlasting memories.

Personal Style

“Kushal is a very chilled-out person, and he wanted a home which reflects his attitude,” informs architect Priyanka P Mehra, one half of the Mumbai-based PS Design. The client’s persona has a large bearing on how a design professional conceives the space, and most definitely has a huge role to play in the architect-client relationship — particularly when the client is a celebrity. And here, Priyanka and Piyush Mehra (the other arm of PS Design) were put at ease from the word go by popular television actor Kushal Tandon, who is raking in much applause for his character Arjun Sharma in Sony Entertainment Television’s best-selling television series at the moment, Beyhadh.

“We had designed actor Sushant Rajput’s house sometime back, and Kushal was his good friend, that’s how we connected,” the architects tell me when I quizzed them on how they first met Kushal. The brief for the project was not elaborate. “Although he is staying alone, he did not want a typical bachelor pad, since his family visited him very often. Kushal’s only concern was his living/entertainment area. He has a lot of house parties and hence, the living space needed to be as per his choice. One of the first requirements was to have an open living room with plenty of space for dancing and moving around. We kept the furniture to a minimum and on a lighter side, so that it is easily movable. It also needed to accommodate his bar and projector screen, along with comfortable seating,” says Priyanka.
