|October 2017
Festive season is fast approaching, which means it’s time to spruce up every nook and cranny of your home and ready it to welcome guests and loved ones. We’ve enlisted four design houses — Cane Boutique, Beyond Designs, Inhabit and Nivasa — to help you create the perfect atmosphere that celebrates the sentiments of the season, ie, warmth, light and prosperity, through unique settings that go beyond the conventional decor solutions.

BEYOND DESIGNS
While diwali decor conventionally evokes ethnic prints, vivid colours, a multitude of flowers and lights, you could choose to break the mould and do something different. Instead of employing traditional hues of orange, red and pink, a monochromatic theme has been chosen in this setting, with hints of blue in some of the furniture and a touch of gold in the artwork and chandeliers. The popular marigold and roses have been replaced by mogra. The outdoors have been brought in with a hanging flower corner — a perfect statement piece for a house party. When it comes to accessories, go bold. Here, large candles form the only centre piece in this living setting instead of clusters of smaller candles and diyas. A touch of opulence is reflected in the materials like the two different marble inlays on the dining table, velvet upholstery and mirror-finished coffee table.
