Emirati horror flick A Tale of Shadows 2 is filmed across the UAE this month.

Romanian actor Robert Christian Trif is an accomplished storyteller. His debut film Before Suicide, which he wrote about a man down on his luck and on the verge of taking his own life, was screened at the UAE Short Film Festival in 2017 and won him critical acclaim. Now, he has turned his hand to acting and is set to star in A Tale of Shadows 2: Illusions, a horror film by director Tariq Al Kazim and a sequel to the first story, set inside an eerie farmhouse. What’s On caught up with Robert to get the lowdown on his career.
You began your acting career after a football injury – would you say that it was a happy accident in that case?
