The 1963 film The Great Escape immortalised the daring plan to free hundreds of Allied airmen from a German POW camp during World War Two by building three tunnels.
As three-part docudrama The Great Escape reveals, the construction of ‘Tom, Dick and Harry’, as the tunnels were named, was a feat of ingenuity.
