John Aniston has been a soap actor for more than 50 years. He joined Days of Our Lives in 1969 for a year, returning permanently in 1985, and earning an Emmy nomination. He also had roles in Gilmore Girls and Mad Men.

Their relationship has been strained ever since he walked out of her life when she was just 10, but last week, amid the COVID-19 lockdown, Jennifer Aniston finally let bygones be bygones and made up with her 86-year-old father, John.

The Morning Wars actress had years of therapy to deal with the abandonment, and blamed his actions on the subsequent breakdown of her relationship with her late mother, Nancy Dow. But as the pandemic claims tens of thousands of lives in the US, many of them elderly, she decided to put her resentment in the past.

“It’s like she has realised life is very short and she wants her relationship with John to be the best it can be,” a friend of John told the Mail on Sunday. “Jennifer didn’t speak to him for ages. But since the coronavirus crisis she has been on the phone almost every day. And not just brief conversations. He’s thrilled they have reconciled.”
