Her incredible journey from bridesmaid to screen boss

She’s one of our very favourite screen queens. Melissa McCarthy can have us feeling all the feels as well as bring the LOLs. This month, she returns to the big screen

in the sassy, female-led crime thriller The Kitchen, which also stars Elisabeth Moss and Tiffany Haddish.

In the film, Melissa plays an Irish gangster’s wife, who takes over the family business after her husband is locked up. While it’s not her typical comedy fare, don’t stress – Melissa has proved time and again she can turn her hand at anything.

However, it wasn’t always a given that she would be so successful. Melissa was almost 30 when she landed her breakthrough role on the popular TV series Gilmore Girls in 2000. And it took almost another 11 years for the fabulous Bridesmaids – and her stand-out role as the hilarious Megan – to make her a household name.
