COURAGEOUS Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek is penning an explosive tell-all memoir during his desperate battle with killer pancreatic cancer that’s guaranteed to shock fans by uncovering his deepest secrets, GLOBE reveals.

“I want people to know a little more about the person they have been cheering on for the past year,” says Trebek, whose book The Answer Is…: Reflections on My Life will be released July 21, the day before he turns 80.

A source close to Trebek tells GLOBE the game show king will dish on his crippling pain, battles with depression, boozing on the set, a near-death car crash, a secret bankruptcy nightmare — and why he shaved his famous moustache!

“Alex says he was inspired to write the memoir following the outpouring of love he received when he announced his stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis last year,” says the source.

“It’s a final love letter to the show, to the fans and his family.”

He’ll concentrate on his gritty physical and mental battle against cancer, the source says.

In addition to the debilitating side effects of chemotherapy, Alex reveals he’s been hit with “attacks of great depression that made me wonder if it really was worth fighting on.”
