Broadway actor WALDEMAR QUINONES- VILLANUEVA has been on the road for an entire year for West Side Story. Glitz? Check. Glamour? Check. Sticking to a budget on his travels? Check.
The Moneymaker:
Waldemar Quinones-Villanueva, who plays Bernardo, the leader of a teenage street gang in Broadway classic, West Side Story. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Waldemar started dancing when he was 14, though he finished his degree in Education (“My parents wanted me to study so that I have a Plan B”) before going into performing full time. He’s now based in New York, where he’d auditioned and snagged the part in the hit dance musical best described as Romeo and Juliet set in 1950’s Upper West Side. This job has taken him on the road for the past 11 months with the rest of the US cast to over 10 cities, including Frankfurt, Zurich and now, right here on our sunny shores where the show is on until Sept 30.
