PASSENGER is not a band, but really just one English dude with a guitar... who can hold his own at his first gig in Singapore very well, thank you very much.
First things first: Passenger is not a band. Well, it was a five-man band from the UK with a name stylised as the /Passenger. (“Slash Passenger Full Stop?”), but they disbanded in 2009. Co-founder Michael Rosenberg decided to keep the name and carry on as a solo act. To make ends meet, the 32-year-old busked on street corners around the world before gaining mainstream success with his melancholic 2012 hit, ‘Let Her Go’. Which is why we find ourselves on a Friday night, along with a 2,000-strong crowd, at his concert at the Star Vista Performing Arts Centre.
