Indians love to buy jewellery, but not many would know of the supply chain that works in the back end, transporting this precious cargo. In a candid discussion we speak to Rajesh Neelakanta, ED & CEO, BVC Logistics, to know his side of the story.

BEJEWELLED LOGISTICS

Tell us something about BVC Logistics and the services it offers to the Indian logistics enterprise.

BVC Logistics provides to the Indian precious cargo industry, an integrated set of logistics solutions, which include:

• Customs brokerage

• Secure transportation and vaulting

• International freight forwarding – exports as well as imports

• Exhibition logistics services

• Logistics consultancy

• E-commerce logistics – domestic as well as international

In addition, we run Vamastores, an enabling solution for assisting Indianjewellers to become e-commerce players with their own webstores, featuring the latest creations and getting them 'export ready’ in less than a week. As a channel partner for Alibaba, we also help Indian jewelers get on-board Alibaba’s global listing platform and thus gain access to over 4000+ buyers, globally.

What is it like to run such a unique business within such a large industry?

It indeed is a huge responsibility for our team to manage such a diverse set of logistics solutions across a highly discerning customer base.

We also play an extremely important role as ‘custodians of trust’ for the Indian precious cargo industry, as they entrust their ‘Jeevan ki punji’ in our care for secure transportation, as well as safekeeping in our vaults.
