The financial crisis of 2008 was considered to be one of the worst financial crises since the great depression of the 1930s, many households went through financial difficulties, finding it arduous to pay their children’s school fees or even buy food. Seeing this happen to her own friends, Diwia Thomas, a writer by profession who focused on web strategy, was determined to provide these women with a means of income and empower them. As a person who comes from the family of freedom fighters and raised with a vision to help the downtrodden, she started Papertrail in 2008, a social entrepreneurship with an aim to empower women by providing them with financial support and giving them the hope to run their family.
