Millennials Take Control

We took a bunch of youngsters on a drive, as part of Hyundai #BeTheBetterGuy campaign for road safety
OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS, Hyundai has laid strong emphasis on road safety. You might have seen a number of their campaigns being run across various social media platforms with the latest one being called #BeTheBetterGuy encouraging people to be safer, better and more responsible drivers and road users. The campaign targets drunken driving, over-speeding, texting while driving and not using seat belt – all factors that lead to accidents. An estimated two lakh people die annually on Indian roads according to a global road safety report published by the World Health organisation, and campaigns like this one can only help bring this number down and make a difference in driving habits on the road.

An assumption we seem to make is that millennials and the Gen-Y crowd are not into driving, and prefer shared mobility solutions like ride-hailing apps and rental cars, but the data shows otherwise. Actual car ownership among millennials is high on their priority list and manufacturers have taken note, offering more technology-packed features in their cars. So youngsters are buying cars, but the big question is, are they equipped with the right amount of training to handle our chaotic roads?
