The 2013 TVS-BMW tie-up has given us three bikes so far. Here are all of them - the TVS Apache RR 310 says hello to the newcomers, the BMWs G 310 R and G 310 GS

A lot of words, ink, anticipation and indeed, frustration on the part of the waiting has passed under the bridge that was the BMW-TVS tie-up that was announced back in 2013. While we know TVS makes the motorcycles at its Hosur plant and that the TVS Apache RR 310, BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS share their origins, we’ve never had a chance to see them parked next to one another. This isn’t a comparison test though - we had only three hours each on the two BMWs and writing a comparison based on that would be unfair to all three motorcycles as well as to you.

But looking long and hard at the three motorcycles reveals many things about how product roles, product quality and prices are a result of engineering and product design. Because while the trellis frame on all the three bikes is virtually the same and while they share the exact same engine hardware down to the gearing, these are three dramatically different motorcycles.
