Why cheap, pattern parts end up costing you loads
I’ve always been blessed with reliable Land Rovers, so it makes me chew the carpet a bit when I hear the cry that ‘Land Rovers are unreliable’. In my experience they are very reliable if you maintain them with decent-quality parts and use capable mechanics.
My 1998 Camel Edition Discovery, Bumblebee – the desert campaigner based at home in the United Arab Emirates – is testament to this. Prior to my buying her, she stood unloved for more than a year in the unrelenting sun, dust and intense UV of Dubai and before that she was maintained by a non-specialist using cheap Chinese parts.
