Mark Preston, Formula E Team Principal and founder of Street Drone, explains how his company, PrestonEV is helping address the growing STEM skills gap.

Mark Preston

The global STEM skills shortage and its impact on the economy has been well publicised over recent years, with the UK alone reported to need an additional 1.8 million engineers and technically qualified people by 2025 to meet current demand. However the advent of new technologies, such as autonomous and electric vehicles, will require more STEM professionals with new skills to help advance the latest innovations, and will necessitate closer collaboration between industry and academics – an ethos that is at the very heart of Preston EV.

Hands-on experience

We believe innovation should start at school, and that students should be introduced to practical, technical and scientific subjects in an engaging manner that illustrates the possibilities and fun of a career in such fields.
