In conversation with Llewellyn Rozario, founder and MD, UniBIM Services, about how BIM technology is no longer the new kid on the block, as more companies understand its reach and benefits.

How is BIM transforming the construction sector?
BIM, or Building Information Modelling, is the process of using three-dimensional models with building information embedded into the model elements. These models are rich in information and enable industry practitioners to make informed and efficient decisions throughout the project’s life cycle. Being able to access critical project information from a single source, in a visually rich 3D environment, enables improved communication between all stakeholders of the project. This is what makes BIM processes widely accepted as the right way to design and build projects. Its use is made mandatory in several regions across the world such as in Singapore, the UK, the Middle East.
Tell us how you started off with UniBIM...
UniBIM began with a determination to support the industry and provide much-needed direction to all construction professionals struggling with traditional procedures. Our goal is to be the leading BIM consultants in the world. In just three years, we have grown into a 250-strong team, working with some of the best minds in the BIM industry globally. Headquartered in Ahmedabad, one of richest business cities of India, we now also have offices in Qatar, Singapore, Australia, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, China, the UAE and the US.

What is the contribution and role of a BIM consultant in a typical project?
