‘I'm feeling treacherous'

CLEANING and packing up Rusty’s belongings this week was a bit like getting a child ready for boarding school. There I was brushing his porcupine mane, his glossy tail and shining chestnut coat, making him presentable and all the while feeling slightly treacherous.

The pragmatic side of my nature is congaing with happiness because we have found him a lovely home on a farm with a keen young rider and her knowledgeable mother – finding the right mother is as important as the rider, I would say.
