Technology Without Tantrums

The latest tractor technology may be complex, but it’s remarkably easy to operate, says Joe Spencer.

In recent years, tractor and implement technology has produced major advances in operating efficiency. Yet many prospective buyers have been put off by the complexity of the technology, perceiving it to be difficult to operate.

Local in-field demonstrations are changing minds by showing that the latest systems are easy to work with, and make operations far simpler. Moreover, farmers are realising that they don’t have to understand exactly how technology works; they merely have to accept that, with the correct instructions, the equipment can do the job very efficiently indeed.

Two examples that won silver medals for innovation at this year’s Agritechnica Expo in Hanover illustrate the ability of modern agricultural machinery to ‘think for itself’.
