Love Unconditionally
Buddy Life
|January - March 2020
We don’t need animals to do our chores or for their meat, we need them to understand simplicity, understand loyalty, trust and most of all, understand love, says Supriya Bhonsle
Loving a dog and being loved back by that dog truly does offer us a way into our own souls. No better put than in the exquisite words of Anatole France, “Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” My love for the voiceless grew in parts. The first animal that drew my attention at the tender age of six-seven was the majestic and kind-hearted elephant. I watched this pachyderm showing loyalty towards his human companion on the big screen. It was an instant connect. A physical meeting with this gigantic animal was a far-fetched dream, but the powerful feeling towards it remained etched on my mind. A few years later, I was drawn towards cats. It so happened that a female feline entered our home one fine morning and cuddled with me on my bed. I was not even given a moment to reconsider this strong emotion of love towards her. She was my cushion and I was hers. A few months later she had a litter of kittens whom I loved like my own children. They were our children.
