The minimum wage saga has taken a new turn, as the Federal Government's offer of N62,000 has been met with resistance from labour leaders, who have revised their demand to N250,000. However, some governors have expressed their inability to pay more than N60,000, potentially setting the stage for a showdown.

While some governors have committed to paying the proposed minimum wage, others, such as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, are adamant that their states can only afford N60,000. Labour leaders have warned that any attempt to pay below the negotiated minimum wage will be met with swift action.

"We will not be deceived by empty promises," said Comrade Martins, a labour leader in Lagos State. "We demand action, not words."

Workers in Lagos State are growing anxious, as Governor Sanwo-Olu's silence on the issue has raised concerns. "We are watching him closely," said Mrs. Funke, a civil servant. "If he fails to pay the new wage, we will make our voices heard."

As tensions build, the fate of the minimum wage hangs in the balance. Will governors keep their promise, or will workers be left feeling betrayed?"
