Some might dismiss her as the girl born with the proverbial silver spoon. As daughter of Sunil Lulla, executive director and executive chairman and director of Eros International Plc, and the granddaughter of Arjan Lulla, who founded Eros in 1977, they would not be off the mark. However, Rishika Lulla Singh, CEO of Eros Digital has proved her detractors wrong, following the introduction of Eros Now in 2012. After all, rather than rest on her genetic laurels, she chose to make Eros Now, the digital platform of Eros International, a technology-driven one, which could leverage its extensive content library.
In our cover story, she tells how the company will invest close to $50 million on creating original shows. This includes 10 originals with production quality that will be on lines of cinematic excellence, which will help Eros Now stake a claim as a leading player in the crowding OTT business.
Additionally, in this issue, we present our second edition of Journey So Far, our effort to highlight companies that started small but gradually flourished into growing organisations. In most cases, we found that these enterprises emerged as success stories due to visionary leadership, management foresight as well as investing in the right people, products and policies.
We also give a quick look at the action that took place at BroadcastAsia 2018, which was held from 26th to 28th June 2018 at Singapore. As always, this annual event celebrated the spirit of business innovation and was an ideal platform for industry leaders and policymakers to exchange ideas relevant to the broadcasting domain.
