"Don't let anyone ever steal your light!"

Cyndi Lauper is 72 years young, and she's as busy as ever entertaining audiences across the country and writing the score for Working Girl, a Broadway adaptation of the hit 1988 film. But in November, the lauded performer will enjoy a career milestone: being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. "I'm really happy," says Cyndi, who joins the likes of Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Big Mama Thornton and Brenda Lee in the honor. "I'm proud to stand on the shoulders of the women who came before me," she tells Woman's World. "When I was younger, I was angry at the world. I was the oddball. Then I learned it was my job to make the world fairer. Sometimes, that's just smiling at someone: It's a tiny thing with a big impact. You must enjoy life as best as you can because hey, when you're not here anymore, you're not here!" Read on for Cyndi's keys to joyful purpose.

Don't miss Cyndi's farewell tour!

The Mary Tyler Moore SHOW

From That Girl in the 1960s to Ally McBeal in the 1990s to Sex and the City in the 2000s, television has long reflected the shifting image of independent women. Yet the true game-changer came in 1970, when The Mary Tyler Moore Show introduced Mary Richards—30, single, stylish and making her way in a newsroom full of men. Rather than being someone’s wife or daughter, she was the star, and she changed television forever. Join us for a look back at rare behind-the-scenes photos of the groundbreaking show as we celebrate its 55th anniversary.

Happy money, happy holidays

The holidays are here (yay!), and with them comes both joy and, let's be honest, stress. For many of us, the shopping lists, entertaining costs or the ache of an empty chair at the table can dim the sparkle of the season. If that's you, please accept my wishes that the days land lightly.
