Fertilize flowers with DIY food

It’s a great time to feed flowering bushes, notes horticulturist Jana Dziak (ThePeasants Daughter.net), who advises combining any plant in your yard, even a weed, with brown sugar. Chop up the plant and place it in a jar with an equal amount of brown sugar, then fill two-thirds of the way with water. Let it ferment for a week. Strain; add to a hose attachment and water peonies. The nutrients are attuned to local soil levels, creating a perfect fertilizer.
