Known as the queen of winter flowers, camellias bridge the gap between winter and spring. Their dark, lustrous leaves provide a rich backdrop for a froth of blooms that typically appear from February. Surprisingly versatile, camellias shine as border specimens, as a hedge or screen or in roomy containers. If space is limited, you can train their flexible stems flat against a wall or trellis.
