Lean into winter and go easy on the new-year-fuelled drive for self-improvement

We all know that New Year's resolutions don't work but, even so, the urge to make them is strong at this time of year. It comes from nowhere, with a quickening of the pulse, usually while you're midway through your 20th Lindor chocolate of the day. If you don't do something drastic now, you tell yourself, by April you will actually BE a Lindor. However, if we use this time wisely, we can be like the flowers, and very slowly (and painlessly) prepare ourselves to bloom in spring - and we can finish off all the winter snacks while we're doing it. If that sounds good, here are 10 ideas to get you started, and remember: easy does it.

Most creatures are hibernating at this time of year - so why not you? Our bodies weren't made to toil away making spreadsheets under harsh strip lighting, so instead, follow your natural circadian rhythms and go to bed when it gets dark. Yes, some people might be a bit annoyed that you're asleep at 3.30 in the afternoon during a business-critical meeting about Q1 deliverables, but that's their problem. FORGET DIETS
