DAWN NEESOM MIND OF MY OWN

WHAT WOMEN REALLY WANT

What do women want in a man? It’s often assumed that physical strength would be high on the list. After all, bulging muscles indicate health, strength and the ability to protect from harm.

Yet a new study suggests that it is bravery, not biceps, that really counts.

Researchers carried out a series of experiments involving more than 4,500 Americans and discovered it was a willingness to step in to protect a partner that was the most attractive trait.

It didn’t seem to matter if the man was a bit of a weakling likely to get a spanking, it was the fact that he tried that made him more desirable.

WE ARE A NATION OBSESSED

If we’re not moaning about the weather we are gossiping about the royals...

There are three little words I never tire of uttering at this time of year. You could say it’s an obsession. Indeed, it’s become such a driving need that I must say it at least four times a day. Sometimes more.

Now obviously those little words are not going to be ‘I love you’ after 40-odd years with the half-man/half-sofa, but it is something to do with wanting him to make me feel hot.

Because my not-so-secret fixation is the weather. And as autumn starts to get its chilly, dark grip on our lives I find myself hissing the immortal phrase, ‘I’m bloody freezing.’ To anyone within earshot. Usually the husband. Apologies for the language there but just being ‘freezing’ doesn’t quite hack it. It needs a stronger word preceding it. Because I hate being cold.
