Laura Hamilton talks 25 years of A Place in the Sun – and how much hard work really goes on

I'm responsible for CHANGING PEOPLE'S LIVES!

For A Place in the Sun's Laura Hamilton, she's living the dream. Now 43, and having worked on the Channel 4 show for more than a decade, she gets to travel the globe helping people find somewhere new to live. But while the show always looks like a mini-holiday, she confesses that a lot of work goes on behind the scenes.

We caught up with Laura - who has children Rocco, 11, and Tahlia, 10, with ex-husband Alex - to find out all about it.

So, 25 years of A Place in the Sun! Why do you think it's so successful?

It's timeless! Everyone loves sunshine, everyone loves escaping, everyone loves people! And people love property. It creates the perfect recipe for a show. You can sit at home on a gloomy day and it helps brighten it. It's inspirational and aspirational - people think, 'I can achieve that.' I'm so blessed to have been part of the show for 14 years. I started in 2011, my first episode was in 2012 and I just love it. It's one big family. It's a show that's seen me through my private life too - getting engaged, getting married, having one baby, having another, taking those babies on the road with me and then getting divorced!
