You will be aware of the shared wisdom that dogs often look like their owners. Often it would seem to be the case, but I believe I am an exception, given how many times people comment on how thin our golden retriever Cookie looks, yet seem reluctant to apply the same description to me. And our hairstyles are vastly different.

I do, however, think a comparison that is true in my life is a new saying I'd like to introduce into the general phrase book – “Owners decay like their house.”

It struck me the other day, as I carried out some basic maintenance on our home, that our abode and I share some similar age-related traits.
