Lenovo Legion Go S (SteamOS)
PC Pro
|September 2025
Puts the Windows 11 version to shame thanks to its snappy interface and far stronger performance
I reviewed the Windows 11 version of the Legion Go S back in March (see issue 367, p76); now there's an alternative model that ditches Windows in favour of the Linux-based, gamer-oriented SteamOS.
The design is identical, with an 8in IPS touchscreen flanked on either side by familiar gaming controls. The most visible difference is that where the Windows version is white, the SteamOS model is a deep purplish colour, which Lenovo calls Nebula. I find this more appealing, especially as it does a better job of masking dirt and grime.
The chassis is an all-plastic affair, but it feels sturdy. Its weight of 740g is reassuringly substantial but not burdensome, and the rounded grips sit comfortably in your hands. The front of the unit is adorned with two thumbsticks, a D-pad, four action buttons and four system buttons, including a dedicated Steam button. Along the top edge sit two shoulder buttons and two triggers, along with the power button, the volume control, a 3.5mm headphone jack and two USB4 ports, which can support an external display as well as peripherals and power. The back panel is home to two additional buttons (Y1 and Y2), plus a pair of sliders that let you adjust the travel distance of each trigger.
