Nvidia announced last week at Computex 2025 in Taipei the development of Taiwan's first AI supercomputer, a massive leap for the island's tech ambitions, alongside plans for a new headquarters in the city's Beitou Shilin Science Park.

NVIDIA LAUNCHES TAIWAN'S FIRST AI SUPERCOMPUTER AND NEW TAIPEI HEADQUARTERS

The supercomputer, a collaboration with Foxconn, TSMC, and the Taiwanese government, will house 10,000 Nvidia Blackwell GPUs, delivering over eight times the AI performance of the existing Taiwania 2 system.

For researchers, enterprises, and global tech observers, this initiative positions Taiwan as a pivotal hub in the $2 trillion AI market, strengthening its role in semiconductor and AI innovation.

The new headquarters, dubbed Nvidia Constellation, features a sleek, spaceship-like design and aims to foster AI and robotics development, with completion expected by 2028.

Unveiled by CEO Jensen Huang during his keynote, the projects reflect Nvidia's deepening ties with Taiwan, where it already partners with manufacturers like Quanta and Wistron.

The AI supercomputer, set to be deployed by Taiwan's National Center for High-Performance Computing, will leverage 10,000 Nvidia Blackwell GPUs, each optimized for generative AI tasks like large language models and quantum simulations.

Huang described it as a "sovereign Al" platform, enabling Taiwan to advance research in climate modeling, drug discovery, and robotics without relying on foreign infrastructure. The system's performance, exceeding eight times that of Taiwania 2's 9 petaflops, positions it among the world's top supercomputers, rivaling systems like Japan's Fugaku.
