MAC POWERS SEVERANCE SEASON TWO EDITING PROCESS

The tech firm showcased the work of supervising editor Geoffrey Richman and director Ben Stiller, who relied on Mac hardware to shape the intense world of Lumon Industries, the fictional biotech at the heart of the Apple TV+ production.

For editors, developers, and viewers, it underscores Mac’s pivotal role in crafting premium content with seamless efficiency.

This spotlight unveils a tight integration of technology and creativity. Richman, a three-time Emmy nominee, managed the editing of “Severance” season two, culminating in a finale that required intricate cuts across a massive 83 terabytes of footage.

Operating remotely, he harnessed a Mac mini with Avid software, paired with an iMac and MacBook Pro, to navigate the season’s layered narrative. Stiller, an executive producer directing five episodes, collaborated closely, pushing structural boundaries to heighten the series’ signature suspense.

“Severance” explores Lumon Industries, where employees undergo a procedure to split work and personal memories, a premise mirrored by the editing challenge of distilling key moments from vast data.

The Mac emerged as a critical tool, enabling Richman to handle 70 shots in a single finale scene, a marching band sequence synchronized across nine simultaneous perspectives. This capability reflects Apple's drive to cement its systems as essential for top-tier production workflows.
