Wilson keen to keep Halfpenny at Quins

LEIGH Halfpenny will be hanging around The Stoop a lot longer if Danny Wilson gets his way having described the veteran fullback as a “model pro and mentor.”

Having worked with the 101-capped Welsh hero in the past during his days the other side of the border, Quins chief Wilson knew exactly he was getting last summer when he helped persuade Lions star Halfpenny to move to south west London.

Despite Halfpenny enduring an injury-ravaged short spell with the Crusaders in Super Rugby after leaving Scarlets, and being in the twilight of his illustrious rugby life, Wilson was always going to welcome the player with open arms and thrilled he would be joining the club's search for more domestic glory and a first Champions Cup success.
