It's a whole new ball game for Rigg

Rigg was in Warwickshire’s academy and spent a year in Australia honing his skills as a batsman, but he reached the point where he realised he was not going to make it.

He took himself off to Cardiff Metropolitan University, a seedbed for Premiership players, with no rugby ambitions but soon found himself playing for the first team and was approached by Coventry.

“I played rugby at school but cricket was the career I tried to pursue,” said the 24-year old Rigg, who joined Exeter from Coventry at the start of the year. “In the end I was not good enough. When I went to university I was not aiming to make it as a rugby player – I went to the freshers’ trials and ended up in the first team.
