CAMBRIDGE dug deep into their depleted resources but came away from Ampthill with a try bonus point in an endto-end encounter that, at half time, looked like it might just lead to their first Champ win double.

Ampthill scored first through Jack Bracken, converted by Luke Davidson — Eli Caven reduced the deficit with a perfunctory penalty before getting his first try of the afternoon after some exquisite handling from George Bretag-Norris and Zac Nearchou. The full-back converted his own score and added another off the tee after Matt Hema had fed Joseph Gaffan for his first try for the Blood & Sand.
