111 Places in Space that You Must Not Miss
BBC Sky at Night Magazine
|September 2025
Perusing the shelves of your local bookstore, you'll no doubt find a vast selection of guidebooks highlighting must-see attractions in cities and countries around the world, demonstrating our species' obsession with travel.
Mark McCaughrean Emons Verlag £13.99 ⚫ PB
This latest entry in the 111 Places series from publisher Emons Verlag takes a break from the Earthbound and instead presents the most interesting attractions to be found beyond the confines of our home planet.
Unusually for this series, only one entry (the Moon) has actually felt the small steps of humanity, and so author Mark McCaughrean instead picks places of interest from across the Universe, based on information beamed back by observatories and, for some more local destinations, visiting spacecraft.
