I've mentioned elsewhere in this issue about my love of Star Wars, so it makes sense to mention Wing Commander as well. On its release in 1990, Chris Roberts' ambitious sci-fi space opera was the closest I could get to reliving the epic space battles of George Lucas' iconic trilogy. X-Wing hadn't even been conceived, and the Star Wars arcade game, while still fun, wasn't exactly new by this point, so Wing Commander felt revolutionary at the start of the Nineties.
