A new study has revealed the most expensive household appliance to run in UK homes – and topping the list is the fridge-freezer.

The research, conducted by house buying experts housebuyers4u, analysed data from the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero to identify which appliances cost households the most to operate annually.

Fridge-freezers top the list as the most expensive household appliance to run, costing UK households £73.64 annually.

Cold appliances make up three of the top five energy-hungry devices, with chest freezers costing £72.83 per year.
