Paedophile who destroyed victims' lives and 'stole childhood' is jailed

Alan Wood was jailed for 28 years at Leeds Crown Court.

Heartfelt impact statements were read to Leeds Crown Court during the sentencing of predator Alan Wood, who was jailed for 28 years.

Prolific paedophile Wood denied dozens of offences stretching between 1980 to 2010 and involving seven victims, some of whom were as young as seven years old.

One victim, who is now an adult, told the court: "That man has destroyed me, he stole my entire childhood.

"I was constantly sought out by him and hunted down. I still have flashbacks about the abuse. I do not like getting undressed, even now I carry that feeling of shame of being naked.

"I have been so low at times I have seriously wanted to end my life. He destroyed me so much I feel like I can't breathe."
