Operation complete as Heavenly sounds come from tragic loss

It should have been a celebration and perhaps a step to greater success. Instead, Heavenly's fourth album is almost forgotten, marked by tragedy.

The 1990s four piece had built up a cult following with their previous three longplayers on the indie Sarah label, but thanks to their affinity with the US riot grrrl scene, Operation Heavenly was released by US punk imprint K Records. In the UK, the Rough Trade-affiliated Wiiija also promised a wider distribution.

However, all this counted for nothing following the tragic death of drummer Mathew Fletcher, Heavenly effectively going into a 30 year hibernation.
