A dramatic comeback and penalty shootout success against Sweden set up a semifinal with Italy, where England once again looked to be heading out only to clinch victory in the final moments of extra-time.
England were second favourites for the final against Spain but dug in to force another penalty shootout and Chloe Kelly, who had scored the winner in 2022, converted the decisive spot-kick.
