Bev beats the 'yo-yo' syndrome and wants to show others how
Yorkshire Evening Post

Meet Bev Marshall, 56-year-old mum, grandma and retired nurse, from Mirfield. Bev broke the cycle of 'yo-yo' dieting with Slimming World and now she's about to help others do likewise by becoming a consultant with Britain's biggest weight loss organisation.
-
Here she tells her story.
When I retired from nursing in July 2024, I was determined to focus on my well-being for a little while. I knew I was overweight, unfit and then the dreaded menopause was playing havoc with my health both physically and mentally. Shift work as a nurse had made it difficult to plan, cook meals and exercise.
I have been a 'frequent flyer' with Slimming World over the past 25 years, starting when my youngest son was only three years old. I became a target member after losing two stones in weight.
I'd dipped in and out since then, becoming unhappy with my weight and refusing to buy the next dress size drawing me back time after time. However, I couldn't break the cycle of lose weight, get to target then stop attending group, which meant I quickly slipped back into my old eating habits - crisps, cheese and wine being my vices.
I still embraced some of the Slimming World basic principles, such as skimmed milk, meat with five pre cent fat and using fry light instead of oils.
When I went 'this time' to join our local Slimming World group, I encouraged my husband to join with me. Working together to embrace the plan has helped us both of us succeed and he has now been a target member for over two years.
