From South Asia to Global South: Modi's diplomacy elevates India's standing

The G-7 Summit being held in France not only reflects the country's growing global influence but is also seen as a sign of India's increasingly strong and decisive position on the world stage, particularly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The G-7 comprises seven of the world's most developed and democratic nations. No developing country is a member of this group. However, since Narendra Modi assumed leadership of India, the country has been invited to the summit as a special guest nation. At these meetings, India has been able to clearly articulate its views before the developed nations while also presenting the concerns and perspectives of developing countries.

This journey was not easy for India. Yet there are several reasons why the G-7 countries have found it necessary to invite India. Prime Minister Modi's clear message to the G-7 nations in France, that the burden of the current West Asian crisis should not be placed on developing countries, is significant. He emphasised that poor nations suffer the direct consequences of war. Energy and security issues are interconnected and can only be resolved through cooperation. In essence, Modi's message is that major powers must set aside rigid positions and find practical solutions.
