Talovierov ruled out of Argyle's fight for survival

PLYMOUTH Argyle defender Maksym Talovierov will miss the rest of the 2024/25 Championship campaign due to a knee injury, head coach Miron Muslic has confirmed.
It is yet another blow for the bottom-of-the-table Pilgrims, who have had to deal with a succession of injuries to key players throughout a very challenging and difficult season.
Talovierov picked up his injury towards the end of the 3-2 defeat by relegation rivals Derby County at Home Park on March 15 and briefly joined up with the Ukraine international squad in Spain, ahead of their two-legged UEFA Nations League A/B Play-Off against Belgium, to be assessed by their medical staff, as is the usual protocol in these situations.
Muslic said yesterday morning “He will be out I think for seven to eight weeks, more or less out of the season. It's a huge setback for us.”
Talovierov became Argyle’s club record signing when he joined them from Austrian club LASK Linz at the end of January for an undisclosed transfer fee, which was reported to be around £1.7 million. He has gone to make 11 starts and scored twice, including the goal which put the Pilgrims ahead in their Emirates FA Cup fifth round tie away to Manchester City, which eventually ended in a 3-1 defeat.
Muslic added: “He's very disappointed because the season is over and he can’t support us any more. We all know Maksym now in the last two months, he’s a fighter, good spirit, top lad, good character.
“He's very down but this is also an opportunity for him to recover, to heal, he will get the full support of Plymouth Argyle, of all of us, and then he has to bounce back.”
